What a Week!

Wow...this past week has been super busy for Danny and me. Being the holidays and all, we had quite a few holiday parties to go to, as well as a 30th birthday party, a wine and cheese party and an engagement party. Luckily, I took a few days off of work for vacation, so I dont go back to work until January 5th. I have been off since last Wednesday. It's so nice to have some time off to just be away from all the drama and annoyances in the office. Especially the pen clicker.

Did I mention I got a laptop for Hannukah? Danny bought it for me. So, I am typing this blog while laying in bed. Ahhhh....so nice =)

2009 is almost here. I am super optomistic that 2009 will be MUCH better than 2008. It certainly couldn't get much worse. So much drama has occured this year...I definitely am ready for things to take a change for the better. I think I deserve it too. Especially with everything I have put up with.

So, if I dont get a chance to update this blog before the new year, then HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!! Be safe on NYE.

Back in Action

Jeesh! I have been without internet service for well over a week now. Last week, Time Warner had a problem and their service went down for a couple of days. When it came back on, my service still didn't work. Now, understand that I had this AOL/Time Warner arc thing going on, where I had to be signed onto AOL in order to connect to the internet (stupid, I know). I also couldn't ever use wi-fi, cause it wouldn't work due to the set up of the system. So, anyway...I decided to order DSL through AT&T on Thursday, since I was so frustrated with Time Warner going down. The earliest they could set it up was Tuesday (yesterday). Fine...whatever. So, I ordered it. I was able to get online on Friday night through my cable modem and I was just going to stay signed on until Tuesday, when my DSL became available.

Ugh...So, I wake up on Saturday and go into my office to check my email. Well, my stupid ass computer updated and restarted itself and I lost my connection once and for all. Needless to say, I was pissed. I basically have been using my phone to check my Facebook, Myspace and AOL email. Annoying.

I got my DSL modem on Monday and we set it up. The service was supposed to be activated by 8:00 p.m. last night. Well, guess what? It didn't work. Surprise, surprise. Deep down inside, I had a feeling it wouldn't work. I called tech support and they told me that they would need to send someone out today between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ha! There is NO WAY I was going to take the day off of work to sit home and wait for them to get here. Besides the fact, I had a stack of overtime to do from last Thursday that needed to get done last night. I had to think fast.

I decided to call Time Warner and ask if the cable modem I had was compatable with their Road Runner service. They said it was, I told them to switch me over to Road Runner (with none of that stupid AOL shit involved) and by the time I got home from dinner, my internet was back! Phew! What a week. I didn't realize how dependent I had become on it. It's actually a little bit scary.

Long story short...I had no internet and now I do. :-)

Back from Sin City

Just got home from Vegas today. Danny and I went up on Thursday night, after work and stayed at the Palazzo (love it there). We happened to get something in the mail from the hotel for his birthday for 2-4 free nights, so we decided to go.
We checked in a little after midnight on Thursday and went to sleep. After all, we had been up and at work all day long. Some rest was necessary.
Friday morning we woke up and decided to walk to TI for breakfast. So much food, we couldn't even eat it all. That didn't stop us from hitting up Sheridan's Frozen Custard in Henderson for lunch. Then we decided to go to Red Rock Hotel and check it out. After getting lost, we finally made it there. We walked around the hotel and saw that they had a bowling alley. We decided to bowl a game. What a huge place - there were 60 lanes, PLUS a private VIP area for private parties. So big. Then Danny played a little blackjack, while I watched. Afterwards, we came back to our hotel and relaxed and got ready for dinner. We went to Michael Mina's Seablue Restaurant in MGM Grand. Very tasty. I had scallops with steamed spinach and chick pea rice, and Danny had some fish that I cant really pronounce or spell. It was Loup de Mare or something like that. Everything was really tasty. Afterwards, we met my mom at our hotel and Danny played some more blackjack. Then it was bed time.
Saturday morning was nice. We slept in past 7:00 a.m., which was nice. My mom picked us up from the hotel around 11:30 and we headed to this restaurant called Gardunos in The Palms. Once again that was another huge meal. While we were there, we saw that the Backstreet Boys were doing a show there at Pearl. So, Danny decided to ask if there were any tickets available - there were. He bought 2 tickets in a box on the side of the stage and they were pretty great seats. We came back to the hotel and watched The Strangers on Pay Per View. We cancelled our dinner reservations for that evening and had some italian food in the Venetian before the show. We headed over to The Palms and saw the concert. It was alot of fun. It's too bad Nick couldn't sing any of his parts though. He had the audience do the majority of his singing, which was a little annoying to me. But, whatever. It was still a good show. After we left The Palms, we came back to our hotel and decided to get some dessert at Grand Lux Cafe. I had a Candy Bar Pie and Danny had Boston Cream Pie. Oh my word...they were so good, but WAY too rich for a before bedtime snack.
This morning we met my mom at The Original Pancake House at Green Valley Ranch Hotel. Had some breakfast and then hit the road. Got home around 2:45 and I have been relaxing ever since. Now it's back to work tomorrow, but luckily its a very short week. Yay! Only 2 1/2 days of work and then its Turkey Day. I love Thanksgiving and this year we have 2 meals to go to. One at 3:00 and one at 6:00. I better bring some pants that expand in the waist. Hahaha.
Anyway, sorry for the lack of updates, but life has been hectic. I will try to update more often. If I don't get to update before next week, then I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Click, Click, Click....AHHHHHH!!!!!

So there's this guy who sits next to me at work, and all he does is click his pen ALL DAY LONG. It drives me up the wall. Today, I slammed my hand on my desk so hard that I almost broke it out of anger. You would think that me constantly turning around, giving him dirty looks would prompt him to stop. Nope...doesn't work. I swear, if the clicking doesn't stop soon, I can't promise that his pen won't be shoved into his ear. Grrrr...it's frustrating. And then apparently, someone said my radio is too loud. Well, its either the old hag who sits right in front of me, who has worked there for 3 whole weeks, or the douche with the pen who has also worked there for 3 whole weeks. I love how people come into the office and expect their superiors to change the way they work. Ain't gonna happen pal. I have 7 years seniority in that office and no old hag or dweeb with a pen is going to tell me that I can't listen to my radio. Did I mention that I can BARELY even hear the music? I have no idea how either one of them can possibly hear it either. It's baffling. I will win this one though...Oh yes, I will win.

Anyway...if you read about a girl going crazy in her office due to a clicking pen, it was probably me.

Damn Birds

I love birds, don't get me wrong. I have had many many many bird pets over the years. However, I am sick and tired of them committing suicide in my presence. For instance, earlier this year, as I was driving home, a bird decided that it would be a great idea to fly into the antennae of my car. I am assuming the bird died, as all I saw were feathers flying around when I looked in my rear view mirror. Secondly, about 6 months ago, Arik and I were driving back to work from lunch and a bird thought it would be fun to fly straight into my passenger side window and I think it broke its neck in the process. Once again, I only saw a flapping bird and some feathers in my rear view mirror. This has traumatized me. So, months later, I finally got over my fear of low flying birds while I am driving...until yesterday. While driving back from Rachel's graduation with Jesse's mom on the freeway, a bird flew into her antenna and died and then a car ran over it. Now, this is seriously a disturbing sight to witness...but to witness it THREE times in a period of a year is just sickening!

The best part of the story is the van that Carol and I drove by after this incident took place.
Can someone tell me why this is happening to me? In my 29 years of life, I have never experienced such weird happenings with birds. Oh yeah...did I mention that when I was in Vegas a few years ago, I was eating a bowl of cereal by the pool and a bird landed on my hand. Now, you tell me that I am not going completely crazy with all of this bird nonsense.

I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watching Me

Yes, I suck. I know. I neglect this blog terribly, but its for no other reason than the fact I am just really busy lately. Lots of stuff going on - some good, some bad...but I am trying to cope and that's about all I am going to say about that.

Last weekend, Danny and I went to see Wicked at the Pantages. We loved it, but I didnt care too much for the 2nd act. It didnt really go with the movie and the continuity. I know I shouldn't really disect it too much, but there were some parts that bothered me. But, the show was really great. On Sunday I did the Nuts for Mutts 5k Walk with Danny. The douchebag I was originally supposed to walk with flaked out on me (thank god), so Danny walked with me instead. I have to say, I am really glad, considering I dont think I could've held a 30 minute conversation with her, or even a 5 minute conversation at that. Anyway...We had fun and felt good about ourselves afterwards. Teddy walked the whole thing like a champ and we got a nice little goodie bag too. I raised $730 for the homeless animals and I couldn't be prouder. I know that the money will go to a good cause. =)

This weekend we went up to Paso Robles to visit Rachel and Jesse. Matt and Taryn came up as well. We had a nice day yesterday and today. We also took Teddy up with us and stayed in a pet friendly hotel. That will be the first and last time he goes with us anywhere like that. He was great in the car, but did not stop barking the entire night in the hotel. So, I am pretty exhausted right now.

Anyway...I hate that I dont update this blog more often, but I have a couple people who are checking up on everything I do. Stalkers would be a more appropriate term. So, I doubt I will be around much to update. We'll see.
Hope all is well with you all. :-)

You Can Do Magic...

Danny and I went to the World Magic Awards last night at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. We went with some of my family and had amazing seats. We sat in the 5th row from the stage, and I was right on the aisle. The camera man was in my face the entire time! The show was great...we saw some amazing magic tricks and had a really good time. Neil Patrick Harris was hosting the show and was sat next to Corbin Bernson (the is the 2nd Saturday in a row that I have seen him) and Ernie Hudson (from Ghostbusters) was also next to us. We actually had a chance to meet Ernie after the show. He was really a genuinely nice guy. Tracy Bingham, the Miz, Melora Harden (Jan from the Office) and some other people were there.

After the show, we went to the after party. It was packed. However, something really sad happened which really killed the rest of the evening for Danny and me. His mom called and told him that their dog, Jake, passed away. I broke down in tears and we left about 10 minutes later. I was in no mood to mingle, take pictures with anyone or have anything to eat. So, we left.

Anyway...make sure you watch the World Magic Awards in December when it airs on TV. Not sure of the exact date...but I am pretty sure I will be on TV quite a few times :-)
