Back in Action

Jeesh! I have been without internet service for well over a week now. Last week, Time Warner had a problem and their service went down for a couple of days. When it came back on, my service still didn't work. Now, understand that I had this AOL/Time Warner arc thing going on, where I had to be signed onto AOL in order to connect to the internet (stupid, I know). I also couldn't ever use wi-fi, cause it wouldn't work due to the set up of the system. So, anyway...I decided to order DSL through AT&T on Thursday, since I was so frustrated with Time Warner going down. The earliest they could set it up was Tuesday (yesterday). Fine...whatever. So, I ordered it. I was able to get online on Friday night through my cable modem and I was just going to stay signed on until Tuesday, when my DSL became available.

Ugh...So, I wake up on Saturday and go into my office to check my email. Well, my stupid ass computer updated and restarted itself and I lost my connection once and for all. Needless to say, I was pissed. I basically have been using my phone to check my Facebook, Myspace and AOL email. Annoying.

I got my DSL modem on Monday and we set it up. The service was supposed to be activated by 8:00 p.m. last night. Well, guess what? It didn't work. Surprise, surprise. Deep down inside, I had a feeling it wouldn't work. I called tech support and they told me that they would need to send someone out today between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ha! There is NO WAY I was going to take the day off of work to sit home and wait for them to get here. Besides the fact, I had a stack of overtime to do from last Thursday that needed to get done last night. I had to think fast.

I decided to call Time Warner and ask if the cable modem I had was compatable with their Road Runner service. They said it was, I told them to switch me over to Road Runner (with none of that stupid AOL shit involved) and by the time I got home from dinner, my internet was back! Phew! What a week. I didn't realize how dependent I had become on it. It's actually a little bit scary.

Long story short...I had no internet and now I do. :-)
